Art at the Point -- 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

In it's 3rd year, Art at The Point is an outdoor juried fine arts and crafts festival, Saturday, September 29, 2012, in Point of Rocks, Maryland. Enjoy a day in the countryside with an entertaining arts festival located on grass parkland next to the C&O Canal National Historical Park, Old Mainline of the B&O Railroad, and Potomac River. Artists, musicians, and demonstrators will be on hand - free admission, free adjacent parking, food, baked good, & central location of US Rt 15 at the Potomac River – will make a day’s outing enjoyable by both artists and visitors.

Just 15 miles from historic Leesburg in Loudoun Co. Virginia, and 15 miles from the historic Frederick, Maryland and an easy hour drive from either Baltimore and Washington, DC – this is an ideal relaxed new venue for celebrating artists from the region.

The exhibit, The Many Images of the Point of Rocks Train Station, returns with the goal of raising awareness of the historical significance of this unique landmark, now on the National Register's List of Endangered Places.

Open to all artist, this event is striving to become a showcase of the area's rich artistic legacy.

Demonstrations at the 2011 Art at the Point

Tim Beachley - Tim Beachley Metal Art, Tim brought his forge and anvil to demonstrate his craft of turning raw metal into works of art.

Susan Hanson - Catoctin Pottery, named for the creek that meanders by, is located in the historic 200 year old Lewis Mill. Artist Susan Hanson has been making pottery for 30 years.

Young Artist Studio

Young artist may express themselves on rocks again this year, Saturday, September 29, 2012, as Poole Stone & Garden will return as sponsors of the popular rock painting workshop. Artists will be able to paint a rock and take it home when they are done.

Artists under the age of 18 are encouraged to exhibit their original works in our exclusive exhibit area.

Also, young artist can try their hand at many other types of art at the Young Artist Tent.

2012 Artist Application    

This unique setting has served as a crossroads through history with its river, canel, and railroad, and for one day, Saturday, September 29, 2012, serves as the crossroad for music lovers and musicians of all ages. Centrally located, the music tent sets the tone for this unique family festival. Last year's musicians and vocalists included:

• Ernie Bradley and the Grassy Ridge Band
• Clustered Spires Chorus
• The Main Line Gravy Soppers

Additionally, many other musicians joined in throughout the day making the festival not only a great place to spend an afternoon, but the perfect venue to share in the joy of music.
